Every year, horse riding is growing in popularity. This is a great way to spend your free time active. It’s no surprise that horse riding can have a positive effect on our physical and mental health.
Horse riding lessons should be started at 7-8 years of age. The child is already strong enough mentally and physically to endure a lesson in concentration for half an hour (depending on where it is held).

Horse riding is not restricted by age and can be started at any age.

Horseback riding has many benefits.

People who have never sat on a horse’s back say “After all, there is nothing there, just sitting.” Horse riding is a sport for those who decide to learn it.

Horse riding, as it was said before, engages nearly all muscles of your body, especially the belly, improves efficiency and decreases stress tension, forms straight posture (nowadays, we spend a lot time bent over, which causes many unnatural curves of the spine).

Horse riding has a positive effect on your mental health. Horse riding lessons allow us to forget all our worries and stress, so we can focus on our own needs. The contact with horses increases self-confidence, builds responsibility, and develops sensitivity. It allows us to step away from our daily lives.

Where can I go to learn how to ride a horse?

Horse riding is becoming more popular. There are more riding centers, schools and recreational stables that offer horse riding. We need to find the right place to pursue this new passion when we get the idea to take up this sport.

Let’s start by choosing a stable closest to our home. This will save us the hassle of driving long distances. Before making an appointment to ride, it’s a good idea for you to visit the stable. This will be our first impression of the school. The stable will make us feel at home, which is important as we will spend our time there.

You can ask friends who have ridden horses to give their opinions on the stable. It’s good to have your own opinions about riding schools/centers. Everyone likes something different.

What should I wear on my first ride?

You don’t need to buy riding equipment at the beginning. You must be dressed appropriately.

Safety is the most important thing. Always wear a helmet that has a certificate when riding on a horse. All riding schools must be able to provide helmets for safe riding. It is recommended that you arrive at the stable prior to your lesson to adjust the helmet to fit your head.

Footwear should always cover the entire foot. Flip-flops and sandals are not recommended. Sports shoes are best for the first ride. They should have a hard sole to ensure that your foot is supported by the stirrup. You will eventually want to invest in riding boots. These are shoes that protect your whole foot and stiffen the ankle.

We always wear long, loose-fitting pants for lessons in riding. It is worthwhile to invest in professional riding pants, such as. Breeches.

Step by step, learning horse riding

We will start with the line and then move on to the lunge (line) for our first lesson of horse riding. This will allow us to balance on the horse’s back. We can expect to feel soreness after such lessons. We will learn how to ride a horse on the lunge, get used to heights, and all the gaits (walk trot, gallop, etc.). Once we feel more comfortable in the saddle, the instructor will let us take the reins from our hands and allow us to ride “loose” in the fenced area. Not all schools have a professional riding square, but it is essential that it was safe. After many solo rides around the square, and managing the large animal, it is time to move into the field.

It is important to combine lessons in horse riding lessons. The square riding improves technique. While the countryside trips teach us new situations, it is important to remember that horses are unpredictable and will react differently to different situations. To ride a horse properly, it is important to understand the nature of the horse.

We must be aware of the possibility that we could fall from a horse while riding it. The worst part is that we don’t know when it will happen. Riders say that anyone who hasn’t fallen off a horse is not a “real rider”.

Horsemanship allows us to interact with amazing animals like horses. These majestic animals are an adventure that will last a lifetime.

The choice of riding path will be up to us. We can choose from competitive sport, recreational riding or horse rides. However, we will always be accompanied by a horse. This horse can even become our four-legged friend.
